BUFFALO, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) – A resident of Bangor, Maine was sentenced to 57 months (over 4 years) in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, U.S. Attorney William Hochul announced on Wednesday.

Charles Dunlop, 20, met a thirteen-year-old girl on the internet and arranged to pick her up in Niagara County. Then, he drove her to Ohio where he engaged in sexual activity with the girl. The victim was with Dunlop for three days, after that he dropped her off at a Pennsylvania mall.

Dunlop was also ordered to register as a sex offender and his computer will be monitored during his supervised release term.

“Those who target minors for sexual conduct will be removed from the community and after serving prison time will be required to register as a sexual offender so law enforcement can continue to monitor this person,” U.S. Attorney Hochul said.

The conviction was a result of Project Safe Childhood in conjunction with federal, local and state law enforcement.
