WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney was admitted to a Washington, D.C. hospital on Friday after feeling discomfort, according to a spokesperson.

Peter Long said Cheney was seen by his doctors on Friday afternoon at George Washington University Hospital. He is “feeling good and is expected to be discharged in the next day or two,” Long added.

A hospital spokesman said he could not release patient information.

Cheney has a long history of cardiovascular disease and experienced several heart attacks, starting when he was 37. He has had quadruple bypass surgery and two artery-clearing angioplasties.

On February 22, Cheney was also hospitalized at George Washington University Hospital after a mild heart attack. He quickly recovered.

Cheney served as 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. He also briefly served as Acting President on two occasions when Bush underwent medical procedures.
