General Sir Peter Wall named as next head of the British Army

By BNO News

LONDON (BNO NEWS) — The British Ministry of Defence on Thursday named General Sir Peter Wall as the new Chief of the General Staff, taking over the responsibilities of General Sir David Richards.

Wall, who is currently the Commander in Chief Land Forces, will assume the position in September. The Ministry also announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Nick Parker, who is currently Deputy Commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, as the new Commander in Chief Land Forces.

“I’m absolutely delighted with both of these appointments. We’re very lucky to have men of such high caliber at this time,” said Secretary of State for Defence Dr Liam Fox.

Nick Parker served as the interim head of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) from June 23 until July 4 after the resignation of General McChrystal.

It was not immediately clear who would succeed as the new Deputy Commander of ISAF.
