Iraqi Security Forces arrest six criminal associates of al-Qaeda in Iraq

BAGHDAD (BNO NEWS) — Iraqi Security Forces arrested six suspected criminal associates of al-Qaeda in Iraq during a joint security operation in northern Iraq on Sunday, the U.S. army said.

U.S. advisors assisted Iraqi security forces during the operation, which took place approximately 42 kilometers (26 miles) northeast of Baghdad. The joint force searched multiple buildings for a suspected member of al-Qaeda in Iraq who is allegedly involved in improvised explosive device (IED) attacks, indirect fire attacks, assassinations and terrorist financing.

The U.S. Army said information and evidence gathered at the scene led Iraqi forces to identify and arrest six suspected criminal associates.
