Kellog Company recalls certain cereals because of odd flavor and odor
BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN (BNO NEWS) – Kellog along with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recalling certain breakfast cereals due to an uncharacteristic odd flavor and odor coming from the liner in the package, the company announced on Friday.
Only packages of Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks labeled with the letters "KN" following the "Better If Used Before Date" are affected by the recall. Products with the letters "KM" or from Canada are not being recalled as they do not present any anomaly.
Kellog informed that the potential for a serious problem is low but some consumers are sensitive to the uncharacteristic off-flavor and smell. However, if eaten, they can cause temporary symptoms such as nausea and diarrhea.
Other products not mentioned are not part of the recall and pose no threat to consumers. The company warned that, unfortunately, the recalled items were distributed nationwide.
"We apologize to our consumers and our customers and are working diligently to ensure that the affected products are rapidly removed from the marketplace," said David Mackay, president and chief executive officer of the Kellogg Company.
