Light earthquake hits off the coast of Oregon

PORTLAND, OREGON (BNO NEWS) — A light earthquake struck more than one-hundred miles off the coast of Oregon on late Friday morning, seismologists said. No damage was reported.

The 4.0-magnitude earthquake at 11.10 a.m. local time was centered about 116 miles (186 kilometers) west of Gold Beach, a city in Curry County. It struck about 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

No damage was reported, and it is unlikely that anyone felt the earthquake.
