SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (BNO NEWS) — A storm on Saturday struck the venue for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico, injuring at least five people, and delaying the opening ceremony.

Felipe Perez, president of Mayaguez 2010 Organizing Committee, told reporters that all activities planned for Sunday remain unchanged.

Authorities said five people suffered injuries after the storm slammed into the Olympic stadium in Mayaguez at 12:35 p.m local time, knocking down a lighting system that smashed several cars.

People who had already arrived at the stadium, that is close to the beach shore, were evacuated.
