Three people dead after Ohio plane crash

ELYRIA, OHIO (BNO NEWS) — Three people were confirmed dead on Monday after a small plane carrying four people crashed near Lorain County Regional Airport in Ohio, officials said.
The fixed wing multi-engine Mitsubishi MU-2B Marquise, which was manufactured in 2002, was owned by Mitts Corp. based in Gainesville, Florida, according to federal records.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded and secured the scene of the crash. Four people were on board the plane. FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro confirmed three of the people had been killed, while the condition of the fourth person was not yet known.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
Loraine County Regional Airport is a small regional airport in Elyria, Ohio, with one 100ft wide runway.
The Mitsubishi MU-2 is one of Japan’s most successful aircraft. It is a high wing, twin-engine turboprop, and has a pressurized cabin. In early 2008, however, the FAA issued a Special Federal Air Regulation (SFAR) directed at MU-2B operations. Pilots flying this aircraft would have to receive a type-specific initial training as well as recurrent training, due to safety concerns.
