Two die in Groveland, California small plane crash
GROVELAND, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) — A small plane crashed in Groveland, California on Friday, federal officials said, killing two people on board.
The crash happened in the backyard of a mountain home about 1/8 of a mile of Pine Mountain Airport around 7.17 p.m. local time. “The aircraft was destroyed by impact and fire,” said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “We believe there were two people on board and both were killed.”
The crash involved a Piper Saratoga aircraft, which is usually capable of carrying up to six people. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the cause of the accident.
Pine Mountain Airport is an airport which is mainly used by small aircraft.
