President Obama’s Birth Certificate PDF has “Layers”
When the PDF file given from WhiteHouse.gov is opened in Adobe Illustrator it shows up in different layers.
Our analysis of the latest controversy: The original birth certificate was probably in a ‘negative’ form, and someone at the White House took it upon themselves to doctor it up so the form can be readable.

The PDF is composed of multiple images. That’s correct. Using a photo editor or PDF viewer of your choice, you can extract this image data, view it, hide it, etc. But these layers, as they’re being called, aren’t layers in the traditional photo-editing sense of the word. They are, quite literally, pieces of image data that have been positioned in a PDF container. They appear as text but also contain glyphs, dots, lines, boxes, squiggles, and random garbage. They’re not combined or merged in any way. Quite simply, they look like they were created programmatically, not by a human.
What’s plausible is that somewhere along the way — from the scanning device to the PDF-creation software, both of which can perform OCR (optical character recognition) — these partial/pseudo-text images were created and saved. What’s not plausible is that the government spent all this time manufacturing Obama’s birth certificate only to commit the laughably rookie mistake of exporting the layers from Photoshop, or whatever photo editing software they are meant to have used. It’s likely that whoever scanned the birth certificate in Hawaii forgot to turn off the OCR setting on the scanner. Let’s leave it at that.
So where is the state seal? Isn’t this copy of the long form birth certificate invalid without the state seal alongside the signature of the registrar-recorder/clerk?
@CEI: I did find this record from WND that shows a birth certificate, in negative form, from the same era. It clearly reads “Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”. Congrats you found Wiki. Had you found Goggle and searched the hospital name, this would have been in the first 5 results. Now please, get a life.

and it is white behind the text because the orginal was white and the green background was added it… like the dates and signatures (which are blurred by the way)

There NEVER has been a “Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”. It has never existed except on this new Barry Soetoro phony birth certificate.
The registration number is out of sequence for a birth on 8-4-61. World Net Daily published a column by Joe Kovacs on 4-6-11 that contained the birth certificate of a woman named Susan Nordyke who was born on 8-5-61. However, her birth registration number is lower than the number on obama’s birth certificate. In addition, Nordyke’s birth was registered 3 days later than Obama’s. Why is her number lower than his? I opened the document in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, rather than Illustrator. Adobe Acrobat shows no layers for this document. If Acrobat shows no layers but Illustrator does, perhaps Illustrator created those layers for its own purpose when opening the file.

I just checked the official web site for Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital and according to the information there, the name of the hospital at the time of his birth should have been Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital. According to the web site the name didn’t change to Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital merged with Kapi‘olani Maternity Home in 1978. So how could his official long form birth certificate that was generated in 1961 have the name of the hospital that wasn’t created until 1978?

It doesn’t matter if Obama was born in my backyard, his father, which the COLB shows was BORN IN KENYA. In order for a person to be prez or vp both your parents could not owe allegiance to a foreign sovereignty. Barry Sr owed allegiance to Britain, Kenya was under British rule at the time of his birth.
Here’s another video looking at the document. If it was a negative, all that would have been required would be to invert the image. There’s no doctoring required, just Command-I in Photoshop. If you look at the year, some reason the “6″ in 1961 has been marked out and added separately. I’m not a hater, just curious.

The document currently on the whitehouse.gov website is not the same one as the one posted this morning. The time on the current document is just before 3pm EST. They must have “fixed” it, and reposted it. But, even still… If you look at the “r” in Barack’s name you’ll see something interesting..

I’m a graphic designer with years of photoshop, touch-up and image manipulation experience. Without getting too technical, the layers that are being scrutinized (obviously, to perpetuate controversy)are a normal result of how the image is read and translated by the different types of software and “machine language.”
A dozen Republican and Tea Party-selected archival experts could examine and confirm the authenticity of Obama’s physical birth certificate and still, there would be idiots, whom, possessing no concept of the archival document authentication process, would continue to spew their mindless drivel about anything they can come up with to keep from actually providing real solutions to fix the political, social and economic mess left behind by the last administration.

I opened the file in Acrobat 9 as well. I went to “Document>Examine Document…”, which found 1 item of “deleted or cropped content”. When I removed that content, all the text disappeared, leaving just a white knockout. So this document has been manipulated, even if that manipulation was just to sharpen the text.
Adobe Illustrator wouldn’t create layers for a strictly image file. This is not just a pdf of an image file.
They did this same thing with the “certification of live birth” form. I don’t know why they can’t just post the form as is. It would be more believable.
This form is NOT and I repeat NOT a birth certificate, this form is a form issued when you move into the state from parts unknown and have your baby documented as being alive,

The thought that someone might have messed up the scan is one thing, but when you open the pdf document in Illlustrator, and check the history files, you find unnamed links that were manipulated within the document. This cannot be done by a clueless person doing a scan. Wake up, sweetheart….this document is a hoax!

Hasn’t anyone noticed that in box #20 that the only BLACK number is the “1″ in “1961″? Why are all the other numbers green? Also, why aren’t there any green “alteration-proof” markings behind the registrar’s affirmation at the bottom? It’s a white background without the green markings which should have shown through… Where’s the registrar’s embossed seal that makes the document official?

This is an artifact of the PDF creation process, as a number of posters have correctly noted.
Anyone with Adobe Acrobat Pro (not Acrobat Reader) can convince themselves of this with documents of their own.
Open ANY scanned image with text on a colored background in Adobe Acrobat Pro; e.g., via “File,” “Create PDF,” “From File.”
Then click “Document,” “Optimize Scanned PDF” under default settings.
You will have produced a layered PDF document, the layers of which you can separate with “TouchUp Object Tool” under “Tools,” “Advanced Editing.”
Acrobat is not the only software that processes images in this way. Many document management systems default or are configured to execute comparable and additional optimizations for human legibility and OCR parsing.
Even without Acrobat software or technical expertise, anyone can examine the PDF posted by the White House and perceive artifacts of PDF “optimization” that would not be present in a plain image “copy.”
The area around nearly every letter of text clearly reveals a systematic outlined white erasure of the green background, not by accident but by design, to enhance contrast and, thus, legibility for the black text.
To pretend these artifacts are evidence of forgery is simply ignorant or, worse, deliberately deceptive.

I’ve used many OCR scanners in my line of work – I have yet to use an OCR scanner that CREATED layers. If the software used to scan the document was an OCR or a bitmap converter scanner, then all the information would be placed on a SINGLE layer, as computers do not have the ability to differentiate bitmap information such as a box, line, signature or character.
Well it proves one thing for me and let us say for a moment that this is correct, for a moment. BO’s dad states he’s a citizen of Kenya whcih following the laws and traditions of the time of our Forefathers, citizenship is determined by the Father place of Origin and nationality. So big O is born in the US but now has the definitively problematic situation of having dual citizenship by virtue of his father being a British subject living in the Protectorate of Kenya. It eliminates all questions about his occupying the White House illegally. Now, they just wanted everyone questioning him to go away and let gas go to $8.00 a gallon, then big O can come rushing to the rescue and save us all by lowering the price to $4.50 a gallon. If you compare the BC of Obama and the two twins born at the same hospital a day apart, why are there different addresses for the same hospital? If you Google the addresses, the one on the twin’s BC is correct and the one for Obama is on the other side of the Island.

Although im not sure and do conceed that some, more advanced scanning processes may indeed create layers when you look at this in illustrator you can also see that clipping masks have been used.. i would say that this has def been ‘created’.
There are also two types of lettering on two seperate layers and what is strange is if you zoom in really close you will notice that the lettering on one layer pixelates however the letters on the other layer do not, they stay sharp. this again is a dead giveaway that the lettering you are seeing has been created in illustrator and not scanned as an image.
