Moderate earthquake shakes Mexico City, no reports of damage
MEXICO CITY (BNO NEWS) — A moderate earthquake rocked Mexico City on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
“The entire building is shaking. It’s still shaking,” said Rodrigo Aguiar, Vice President of BNO News and head of BNO News’ Mexico City bureau, which is located on the 14th floor of the Greco Building. Aguiar said the shaking, which began at 6.47 p.m. local time, lasted for about 30 seconds.
A seismologist at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.7, at a depth of about 24.9 miles. Its epicenter was located in Oaxaca, Mexico.
There was no risk of a tsunami.
