FAA: Arizona chopper crash kills 3 in Cave Creek

CAVE CREEK, ARIZONA (BNO NEWS) — Three people were killed when their helicopter crashed in the Arizona town of Cave Creek on Sunday, federal officials said.

The Eurocopter EC135 helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances around 2 p.m. PST near 73rd Street and Highland Avenue in Cave Creek, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman Ian Gregor. The helicopter caught fire after the crash.


“There were three people on board the aircraft – two adults and one child, “Gregor said. “All three were killed.”

FAA investigators are en-route to the crash scene to investigate the cause, and a National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigator will arrive on early Monday.

Federal records show the 2000-build helicopter was registered to the Services Group of America, Inc., based in Scottsdale.

Cave Creek is a small town in Maricopa County, north of the Phoenix metro area.
