MANNHEIM, GERMANY (BNO NEWS) – A German teacher was stabbed to death at school by an angry student on Thursday, the Deutsche Welle said.

A 23-year-old former student of the Rhineland Palatinate training college in Ludwigshafen, Germany, which is a vocational school with more than 3,200 students, attacked the 58-year-old teacher because he had given him bad grades.

According to reports, the police had been alerted by fire reports when they found the teacher lying on the stairs Thursday at around 10 a.m. local time. He was still alive but died shortly despite first aid efforts.

The unnamed suspect was carrying a starter pistol and a combat knife when police officers detained him. The school was evacuated, without any reports of other victims.

Nearly a year ago, a school massacre occurred in Winnenden, Germany, when a 17-year-old killed 15 people before turning himself in.
