WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — At least one person was killed and eight others were injured after a mass shooting in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, officials said.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded to the 4000 block of South Capitol Street SE after a 911 call came in at 7.27 p.m. local time. The DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services said ‘numerous’ EMS units were on scene and said a Medevac helicopter had been requested. Several of the victims had life-threatening gunshot wounds.

“It’s a pretty large scene,” a police spokesman said, who had no information about if there were any suspects in the shootings. “Details are still coming in,” he said.
