U.S. marshals arrest Richard Dill from Tampa, Florida, wanted on 305 counts of child pornography
On April 21, 2010, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, Tampa, in locating and apprehending Richard DILL. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office had issued an arrest warrant for 305 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. A bond of 2.2 million dollars had been set by a Hillsborough County Judge on the case. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Detectives were able to determine through their investigation that DILL was currently working somewhere in Iraq as a government contractor.
On May 16, 2010, a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), Tampa Office, confirmed that DILL was a registered passenger on Delta flight DL 0007 from Dubai United Arab Emirates enroute to Atlanta on 05/16/10 at 0600. DILL’s name had been flagged on the Treasury Enforcement Communication System (TECS) and alerted on the plane’s manifest.
On May 16, 2010, the U.S. Marshals, Southeast Regional Task Force in Atlanta, Georgia, arrested Richard DILL, at the Atlanta International Airport, South Terminal when he departed his plane from Dubai. DILL was transported to the Fulton County Jail to await extradition back to Tampa, FL.
Several weeks prior the U.S. Marshals had also located and arrested DILL’s roommate / co-defendant, Michael BOOTH in Akron, OH, on Possession of Child Pornography. BOOTH had also recently fled the state of Florida prior to the warrants being issued.
