Researches discover bacteria capable of killing pneumonia-causing bacteria

By

(WIREUPDATE) – Japanese researchers discovered a bacteria in the human nasal passage which can control and possibly destroy a common bacteria found in the human nose and on skin that causes meningitis and pneumonia.

This discovery may help experts to find new ways to control the Staphylococcus aureus  (S. aureus)bacteria, which over the years has become more dangerous due to it has grown resistant to other antibiotics.

The team of researchers, led by Tadayuiki Iwase at the Jikei University in Tokyo, Japan, examined 88 volunteers and found that 60 of them did not carry S. areus in their nasal cavities.

“These findings indicated that in humans, the presence of inhibitory S. epidermis in the nasal cavity could be a potential determining factor for the absence of S. aureus colonization,” said Iwase.

The bacteria can cause minor illnesses like pimples and boils up to meningitis, pneumonia and septicaemia. Once and infection takes hold it’s very difficult to create specially when cause by drug-resistant.
