Singapore jails man who used Friendster to have sex with young girls

SINGAPORE (BNO NEWS) — A Singapore man has been jailed for more than two years for running an online escort business to have sex with young women, local media reported on Thursday.

30-year-old Lim Jun Chieh was sentenced by District Judge Ng Peng Hong after pleading guilty to two counts of cheating, and one charge each of procuring a woman to prostitute herself and having commercial sex with a minor under 18.

According to The Straits Times, Chieh posed online as a woman and trawled the Internet for young women, enticing them with money in return for sexual services for ‘her clients.’

For at least eight young women the offer proved to be too tempting. Chieh offered them as much as $20,000. Among those who fell for the scam was a 16-year-old girl who was promised a payment of $5,000.

Chieh committed the crimes over a three-year period, starting from July 2007, less than a year after his release from prison for similar offenses. He used the social networking website Friendster as the base of his operations.
