At least 20 dead, many hurt after suicide bombings at mosque in southeastern Iran
ZAHEDAN, IRAN (BNO NEWS) — At least 20 people were killed and dozens more were injured after two suicide bombers attacked a mosque in southeastern Iran on Thursday evening, state-run media reported.
The attacks happened around 9.20 p.m. local time at the Grand Mosque in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan-Baluchistan province. A government official said the blasts were caused by suicide bombers.
An official told the state-run Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) that at least 20 people had been killed, while 73 others had been injured.
State-run television also reported that shops in the area had also been damaged.
Deputy Interior Minister Ali Abdollahi described the incident as a “terrorist act,” Fars news agency reported.
