Report: Drug kingpin Ignacio Coronel arrested by Mexican Forces

GUADALAJARA, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) – Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel Villarreal, one of the most wanted leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, was arrested on Thursday during a military operation conducted in Zapopan, a city in Mexico’s central-western Jalisco state, local media reported.

Witnesses said that gunshots were heard during the operation that started around 1:00 p.m. local time (2:00 p.m. EST) in the Colinas de San Javier neighborhood.


Coronel Villarreal is a close associate of drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, the Sinaloa cartel leader.
