Hezbollah delivers "evidence" linking Israel to Lebanese PM Hariri murder

By

BEIRUT, LEBANON (BNO NEWS) – Hezbollah submitted on Tuesday a dossier to a Lebanese state prosecutor which allegedly
implicates Israel in the 2005 murder of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed last Monday to have information that would assist with the investigation and showed a video that allegedly demonstrates Israel’s responsibility in the assassination. The footage showed routes used by Hariri and filmed by Israeli surveillance.

The delivering of the dossier came after an UN prosecutor requested the leader of Hezbollah to hand over all relevant information to the killing. The Lebanese prosecutor then handed the evidence to the international tribunal investigating former PM Hariri’s murder.

Hezbollah denied the UN request for considering that the UN tribunal has no credibility. However, on Friday, Hezbollah official Mohammed Fneish said that they will provide any information that the Lebanese government asks for, even if it would be handed in turn to the UN.

On February 14, 2005, PM Rafik Hariri was killed by an explosion that caught his motorcade in Beirut. His second son Saad Hariri took on his father’s political path and is the current Lebanese Prime Minister.

The Special Tribunal is an independent body that was organized in The Hague in the Netherlands, following an investigation that revealed that Lebanon’s own investigation into the car bombing that killed the former Prime Minister was seriously flawed and revealed that Syria was responsible for the political tensions that followed the attack.
