Earl weakens to category one hurricane off U.S. East Coast

MIAMI (BNO NEWS) — Earl weakened to a category one hurricane with maximum sustained winds near 85 miles (140 kilometers) per hour, and higher gusts, but is expected to remain a hurricane as it approaches southeastern New England, forecasters said on Friday.
