Statement by former U.S. President Bush on 9/11 anniversary

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — Former U.S. President George W. Bush on Saturday released the following statement on the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

“On September 11, 2001, Americans awoke to evil on our shores. On this solemn day of remembrance, Laura and I hold the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers. We recall the many acts of heroism on that day, and we honor those who work tirelessly to prevent another attack. May God bless our great country and those who defend her.”

I have a habit of videotaping (now DVDing) major news stories. I have in my archives too many hours to count of videotapes and DVDs pertaining to the deaths of Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope, or the impeachment of President Clinton, or the inauguration of the first African American president on January 20, 2009.

Late on the evening of September 11, 2001, my then-girlfriend, who knew my habits better than anyone, said to me, “You haven’t taped any of this. Why?”

“Because”, I replied, “I never want to look at this again.”

And so it goes. Hi Ho.
