Texas father charged with killing his three children
HOUSTON, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) — A father has been charged with capital murder after being accused of killing his three children on Sunday in northeast Houston, authorities said.
The Harris County Sheriff’s office said the boys, aged 14, 12, and 7, were found shot to death in their beds at a residence located in the 13027 block of Homestead when Sheriff’s deputies arrived around 9:45 a.m. CDT.
Their father, Mohammed Goher, 47, was found with a non-fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and he was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s office said that the children’s mother is divorced from Goher, who had court ordered visitation rights and received the children at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon and was scheduled to return the children on Sunday afternoon.
The children’s babysitter, according to police, reported seeing Goher with a pistol, and fled the residence before hearing a gunshot and asked neighbors to call the police.
The house has had a history of domestic violence, according to the Houston Chronicle, including a spring 2006 arrest of the father for family violence. A witness interviewed by the newspaper said Goher was very upset about an upcoming court date and feared losing visitation rights in a custody battle.
