NEW DELHI (BNO NEWS) — The U.S. Embassy in India on Saturday warned its citizens that terrorists may be planning ‘imminent’ attacks in New Delhi.

“There are increased indications that terrorists are planning imminent attacks in New Delhi,” the U.S. Embassy said. “Terrorists have targeted places in the past where U.S. citizens or Westerners are known to congregate or visit.” It said markets such as those located in Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli, and Sarojini Nagar, can be ‘especially attractive targets’ for terrorist groups.

The Embassy urged Americans traveling or residing India to maintain a high level of vigilance and monitor local news reports. “If you are in an area where unattended packages are spotted, you should immediately exit the area and report the packages to authorities,” a statement said.

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — The U.S. Geological Survey on Friday accidentally reported a moderate earthquake north of the city of Oakland in northern California, a spokesman said.

The U.S. Geological Survey initially said the ‘earthquake’ at 12.43 p.m. local time was centered about 7 miles (11 kilometers) northeast of Napa, or 40 miles (64 kilometers) north of Oakland. It said the ‘earthquake’ struck about 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) deep, which would have made it a shallow earthquake.

However, a spokesman later said the data was generated by an automated earthquake-detection system. “After further review we determined the earthquake to be non-existed.”

NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) — Two New York men were arrested and charged with trying to help Al-Qaeda terrorists, WNBC-TV reported on Friday.

The report said both men hold U.S. citizenship and that of another, unspecified country, and have traveled overseas numerous times. WNBC-TV reported, citing ‘sources’, that the men were seeking to provide financial support to terrorists.

It said the men were trying to assist the terror network overseas and, according to law enforcement officials, there is no specific threat to the city.

A spokesman for the New York Police Department was not able to confirm the report. “I can’t confirm that,” the spokesman said.

An official announcement is expected later on Friday.
